The Newcastle Gilbert & Sullivan Players 2010 production involves two one-act plays. Trial by Jury is the satirical 'battle of the sexes' courtroom drama that began the Gilbert & Sullivan tradition (our production includes extended dialogue written by Chris Maxfield). Mermaids of Mull is a youth oriented hip-hop dance comedy populated by characters from and references to all 13 of Gilbert and Sullivan's comic operettas. This production will be the world premier of Mermaids of Mull, written by Newcastle author Nick Higginbotham and composer Gareth Hudson, which we hope will find a home with other Gilbert & Sullivan societies in Australia and abroad.
